Helicopter Rescue Hoist Training
True Aviation is intensely interested in improving public and private entity rescue hoist operations capabilities. Decades of experience reinforces the belief that safely effecting complex hoist recoveries requires the proficient teamwork of well trained pilots and hoist operators. Professional or technical lapses by either of these team members can have injurious or even fatal consequences.Historically, the U.S. Air Force was first designated as the service responsible for Combat Search and Rescue during the 1960's and they rapidly evolved tremendously effective capabilities. Throughout the '70s and '80s they continued to improve their military-oriented skills, and also employed those attributes in civilian service through Military Assistance to Safety and Traffic (MAST), conducting countless high-mountain and off-shore search and rescue missions. The U.S. Coast Guard, with their civil service directive, also began working towards increased capability and throughout the '90s and 2000's refined their abilities and became a premier rescue organization. Following Hurricane Katrina, the U.S. Army recognized their own hoist response shortfall and initiated a capability buildup. The key to all these efforts hinges upon professional training and standards.
Unlike simply holding a hover or running hoist cable out or in, the dynamics of a helicopter hoist rescue can rapidly escalate and become challenging to even the most seasoned veteran. Therefore, it is imperative that professional rescue crews institute training programs designed to develop and maintain proficiency in multiple rescue techniques as well as potential system or environmental complexities.
True Aviation developed hoist training programs specifically tuned to the civil sector as it evolves, as well as to assist governmental entities such as police and fire-fighting organizations, and Customs & Border Protection. As noted earlier, we've traveled to places like Brazil and India in providing our expertise and training assistance. However, while our passion for excellence remains, other organizations have now taken the lead in training while we remain available to assist.
